About Kristin

I’m Kristin with an “in” in a world where everyone, even autocorrect, spells it with an “en.”

I write children’s picture books that contain both humor and heart.

I am a sociologist with a PhD in Sociology and Gender & Women’s Studies from Loyola University Chicago and I have taught in the university sector for twenty years.

I am an advocate and change-maker serving in various leadership capacities in the equity sector to advance progressive policies, mobilize resources and direct energies toward creating a more just, safe, equal and sustainable world.

I brave urban life in Toronto with my husband and our trilogy of sons and relish my time by the lake north of the city during the summer months.

I am a member of the hard of hearing (HoH) community and strive to foster compassion and inclusion with stories that normalize our diverse hearing and language journeys.

I am a popcorn and Popsicle aficionado and I am madly in love with our goofy Bernedoodle.

Land Acknowledgment

I am grateful to live, write, and work on the ancestral lands of many diverse nations including the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishnabeg (Ojibway, Chippewa, and Algonquin), the Haudenosaunee and the Wendat peoples. With deep respect, I acknowledge the stories, traditions, and communities of the people who have cared for these lands since time immemorial.
